Our family have lived at Weston House Farm for three generations since the 1940's. My name is Caroline and I live with my husband, also known as Farmer Jon and our two children in Moonrise House.
Jon has always had a passion for farming and has worked on the family farm since completing university. Before the children came along I was a primary school teacher, a job I loved but which combined with the long hours Jon works wasn't working well for our young family. As the family is pivitol to farming life I decided to start my own family business and Moonrise Lodges was born in October 2016! Neither of us had any experience in the hospitality industry but we quickly found our feet and I'm loving the variety and challenges that everday brings.
Back on the farm Jon milks just over 200 cows twice a day. There is a mixture of other animals around the place including pigs, goats, sheep and chickens. Children both big and small love to look around the farm, helping to feed the calves and see the afternoon milking*. Just let us know when staying if you'd like to come and have a farm tour.
If he manages to get a break from farming Jon is a keen tennis player and whilst at the lodges you are welcome to come and use the court by our house. We have plenty of racquets if needed.
Located on the farm just a ten-minute stroll from the lodges and you'll find Beeches Lake it is a beautifully quiet spot. Children love to play amongst the trees and splash about in the stream. If you’re a fisherman the lake is stocked with both Brown and Rainbow Trout and a day's fishing can be arranged. You have to provide your own fishing tackle but we'll provide stunning views and tranquility!
- We cannot guarantee a tour but we will try our best. During and on completion of the tour please use the hand washing facilities provided.
